Basketball Recap: Jefferson Comes Up Short

If Jefferson was feeling good fresh off their 69-38 takedown of Brackenridge last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Jefferson Mustangs fell 51-44 to the Sam Houston Hurricanes on Monday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Mustangs came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 398th, while the Hurricanes are ranked 1061st).

When it comes to explaining why Jefferson lost, don't look at Andre Lewis. Despite the final result, he went 6-for-13 en route to 14 points. Lewis is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 46% in the last five games he's played.

Jefferson's loss dropped their record down to 21-12. As for Sam Houston, their win bumped their record up to 7-23.

Coming up, Jefferson will challenge Harlandale at 6:00 p.m. on February 18th. Harlandale has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Sam Houston does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
