Softball Recap: Buchanan Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Buchanan walked away with it. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Central East Bengals on Thursday, sneaking past 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bears have posted since April 15th.

Brooklyn Ainsworth spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Thimir Bracamontes was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.

The win (which was Buchanan's third in a row) raised their record to 23-9. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Central East, their loss ended an 11-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 23-4-1.

Buchanan didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 6-2 defeat against Clovis North on the 31st. Central East does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
