Softball Recap: Bay City Drops Highest Score of Season Against Sweeny

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bay City). They put the hurt on the Sweeny Bulldogs with a sharp 21-6 victory on Friday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Blackcats as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Felicity Lara and Ameryce Jacques did most of the damage at the plate: Lara went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs, while Jacques went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most runs Jacques has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lexiana Dickerson, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Bay City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.

Bay City's victory bumped their record up to 7-12. As for Sweeny, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Bay City is set to challenge their familiar foe El Campo at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Sweeny will take on rival Wharton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
