Softball Recap: Golden Valley Comes Up Short

Golden Valley had lost nine straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 4-17 to make it ten. They lost 10-0 to the Valencia Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-2 back in April.

As for Valencia, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-6. Give their pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

For Valencia's part, not much got past Carly Kearns, who gave up just a hit and racked up nine Ks to keep Golden Valley off the board. Kearns has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Valencia got a massive performance out of Sydney Bolder, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Kiera Rand, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Golden Valley wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 19-0 loss against West Ranch on the 6th. As for Valencia, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 2-1 defeat against Oaks Christian on the 2nd.
