Softball Recap: Morgan County Cougars vs. West Carter Comets
Morgan County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss. They came up short against the West Carter Comets, falling 15-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Comets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-8 back in March.
Morgan County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alyssa Smith, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI. That RBI marked the first that Smith has brought in this season.
Morgan County's defeat dropped their record down to 4-22. As for West Carter, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-11.
Looking ahead, Morgan County will face off against Owsley County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Owls / Lady Owls have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.33 runs per game on average), something the Cougars will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for West Carter, they will welcome Cross Lanes Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Comets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 10 runs per game this season.
