Basketball Recap: Kelso Takes a Loss

Kelso played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 61-28 loss at the hands of the River Ridge Hawks. The Hilanders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-12.

Brandi Stanford continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for River Ridge, going 8-for-14 to rack up 19 points and six steals. Stanford is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mya Armstrong, who posted 11 points and four steals.

Kelso now has a losing record of 10-11. As for River Ridge, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season.

Looking ahead, Kelso won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Jefferson at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for River Ridge, they will also get right back to it: they'll take on Mountain View at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Mountain View comes in on five and River Ridge on three.
