Softball Preview: Wood River Wolverines vs. Mountain Home Tigers        
        
		
            
 The Wood River Wolverines will look to defend their home field  on Friday against the Mountain Home Tigers at 3:00  p.m. The last three games Wood River has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
 Wood River took a loss when they played away from home  on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed  on Tuesday. They skirted past Jerome  10-9.
  Paityn Nelson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She  struck out seven batters over  6.2 innings while giving up  four earned  (and five unearned) runs off   seven  hits. Nelson was also big at the plate,  going 2-for-4 with three  RBI and a  double.
 In other batting news,  Faith Enderle was  incredible,  going 1-for-4 with a  home run and four  RBI.  Marlee McLean was another key contributor,  scoring two  runs while going 2-for-4.
 Meanwhile, Mountain Home came into Tuesday's   matchup having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with  a   10-7  win over Filer  on Tuesday.
  Stacie Kelley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned  (and four unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks.
 On the hitting side,  the team  relied heavily on  Orie Rau, who  went 3-for-4 with a  home run, three  runs,  and three  RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to  home runs, as she's  now  launched  at least one in the last three games she's  played. The team also got some help courtesy of  Ava Johnson, who  went 1-for-4 with a  home run and three  RBI.
 Wood River's victory bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Mountain Home, their win bumped their record up to 3-15-1.
Mountain Home's pitching crew has a tough task ahead of them:  Wood River has been making plenty of contact this season,  having  averaged 12.5  hits per game. It's a different story for Mountain Home, though, as  they've been averaging 8.9. Given Wood River's sizable advantage in that area, Mountain Home will need to find a way to close that gap.
 Wood River took their  victory against Mountain Home  in their previous matchup  back in April of 2023 by a conclusive  14-1. Will Wood River repeat their success,  or does  Mountain Home have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
