Basketball Recap: Wilcox County Patriots vs. Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane
The Wilcox County Patriots lost against the Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Wilcox County took a 53-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Purple Hurricane. Wilcox County has not had much luck with the Purple Hurricane recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Fitzgerald got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jason Ferguson out in front who scored 13 points. Bryce Smith was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Wilcox County's defeat dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Fitzgerald, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-9.
Wilcox County will head out on the road to square off against the Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Treutlen has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,477 points over their last 21 games. As for Fitzgerald, they will be playing at home against the Rebels at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Berrien has now lost 18 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 21.
