Baseball Game Preview: Georgetown Day Mighty Hoppers vs. Potomac School Panthers

For the second straight game, Georgetown Day will face off against Potomac School. The Mighty Hoppers will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. Georgetown Day has given up an average of 8 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Georgetown Day came up short against Potomac School on Tuesday, falling 13-3.

For Potomac School's part, they got a great performance from Gavin Speigel as he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Speigel has become a key player for the Panthers: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-5 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jason Seeber, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. Jake Adamec was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4.

Potomac School always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in five consecutive matchups.

Potomac School's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-6. As for Georgetown Day, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-5.
