Softball Game Preview: Sesser-Valier/Waltonville Red Devils vs. Casey-Westfield Warriors

The Sesser-Valier/Waltonville Red Devils will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Casey-Westfield Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Sesser-Valier/Waltonville had to kick off their season on the road on Saturday, but they showed no ill effects. They blew past Elverado 9-1.

Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, Casey-Westfield rose to the challenge on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg 1-0. The victory was familiar territory for the Warriors, who have now won 14 matchups in a row.

Ava Goble was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over ten innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 17 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with one home run.

Sesser-Valier/Waltonville might still be hurting after the 16-3 defeat they got from Casey-Westfield in their previous matchup back in April of 2018. Can the Red Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
