Zoey Coppess spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Grace Kessinger, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April.
Meanwhile, Tipton gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They won by a run and slipped past Rensselaer Central 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Blue Devils have posted since May 16, 2025.
Ella Lobeck was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Makenna Comer was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Cora Braun, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Frankton's record is now 16-5. As for Tipton, their record now sits at 7-15.
Everything went Frankton's way against Tipton when the teams last played back in May of 2025, as Frankton made off with a 9-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
