Basketball Recap: Julian Houpe's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Millers Creek Christian over Statesville Christian

Fans were treated to a battle of the Lions on Thursday. Millers Creek Christian took a 52-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Statesville Christian. Millers Creek Christian hasn't had much luck with Statesville Christian recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Millers Creek Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Julian Houpe, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine boards. Houpe is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Carter Ward, who posted 11 points and three steals.

The loss was their first at home , dropping their record down to 4-2. As for Statesville Christian, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
