Basketball Recap: Guilford's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Guilford had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.8 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They strolled past the Belvidere Bucs with points to spare, taking the game 66-48. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while the Bucs are ranked 211th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Guilford's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Baylee Sandine, who posted 18 points. Another player making a difference was Zariah Burnett, who put up 15 points.

Belvidere lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kayla Beaudet, who went 6 for 7 en route to 14 points and five boards. Beaudet has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Emma Pierson was another key player, putting up 14 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.

Guilford has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. As for Belvidere, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-7.

Guilford didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-45 defeat against Rockford Auburn on the 17th. As for Belvidere, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 79-63 loss against Freeport on the 17th.
