Basketball Game Preview: Burbank Titans vs. Fairfield Falcons

The Burbank Titans are taking a road trip to challenge the Fairfield Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fairfield took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Burbank, who comes in off a win.

On Wednesday, Burbank earned a 49-41 win over Foothill. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Titans.

Meanwhile, Fairfield was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Wednesday as they fell 60-55 to West Campus. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Falcons came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 286th, while the Warriors are ranked 583rd).

Burbank will have to keep a close watch on Tristen Smith and Johnnie Jones, a pair of players who had a big impact on Fairfield's prior game. Smith went 5 of 10 en route to 11 points and five steals, while Jones dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. That's the most steals Smith has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ivan Lopez, who posted eight points.

Burbank has been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.1 points per game. As for Fairfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-7.

Burbank was able to grind out a solid victory over Fairfield in their previous matchup two weeks ago, winning 42-35. The rematch might be a little tougher for Burbank since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
