Preview: Sterlington Panthers vs. St. James Wildcats
Sterlington is on a eight-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while St. James is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Sterlington Panthers will take on the St. James Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Sterlington had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 33-20 victory over Pine on Friday.
Meanwhile, St. James stacked a seventh blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 40-0 victory over Many. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as St. James just coasted through the last quarter.
St. James can attribute much of their success to Brayden Williams, who rushed for 33 yards and two touchdowns, and Kani King-young, who rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries. King-young was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 53 yards.
Their wins bumped Sterlington to 11-1 and Pine to 10-3.
Sterlington suffered a grim 28-7 defeat to St. James in their previous matchup back in December of 2020. Will Sterlington have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other football content.
