Volleyball Game Preview: Downey Knights vs. Pleasant Grove Eagles

After both having extra time off, the Downey Knights and the Pleasant Grove Eagles will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Downey will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Downey can't be too worried about heading out to take on Pleasant Grove: they just beat Ripon at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. The Knights walked away with a 3-1 win over the Indians on Wednesday.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-20, 22-25, 25-23.

Downey found their leader in freshman Mateo Lewis, who had 13 digs and two assists.

Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, Pleasant Grove's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of Laguna Creek by a score of 3-2.

Pleasant Grove might've lost, but they sure made Laguna Creek work for the win: two sets went to 30 points or more. The final score came out to 30-32, 25-20, 25-22, 29-31, 15-11.

Pleasant Grove's loss dropped their record down to 16-8. As for Downey, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-8.
