Volleyball Recap: Marshall Extends Road Winning Streak to Seven

Marshall hadn't done well against Gabrielino recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Marshall won by a set and slipped past Gabrielino 3-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-2 back in September.

Marshall was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The final score came out to 25-12, 19-25, 22-25, 25-18, 15-13.

Leading Marshall to victory were Harlem Castro and Livsey Teems. Castro had 14 digs and one assist, while Teems had 15 digs, eight kills, and six aces. Those 14 digs gave Castro a new career-high.

Marshall pushed their record up to 17-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for Gabrielino, their defeat ended a 16-match streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 23-6-1.

Looking ahead, Marshall will challenge Rosemead at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gabrielino, they are taking a road trip to challenge San Marino at 5:15 p.m. on Monday.
