Basketball Game Preview: Forsyth Country Day Furies vs. Durham Academy Cavaliers

Having just played yesterday, the Forsyth Country Day Furies will head out on the road to face off against the Durham Academy Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Thursday, Forsyth Country Day blew past Westchester Country Day, posting a 63-27 win. The Furies have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Durham Academy had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They walked away with a 74-61 victory over the Knights.

Durham Academy's win came from a few key players Forsyth Country Day will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was JJ Wilcox, who went 6 for 8 en route to 17 points and five rebounds. The game was his third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Quin Frasher, who went 5 of 6 on his way to 12 points.

Forsyth Country Day's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-4. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 24.6 points. As for Durham Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

Forsyth Country Day beat Durham Academy 54-45 when the teams last played back in February of 2016. The rematch might be a little tougher for Forsyth Country Day since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
