Basketball Game Preview: Rugby Panthers vs. Dunseith Dragons

The Rugby Panthers will head out to challenge the Dunseith Dragons at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Rugby will be strutting in after a victory while Dunseith will be coming in after a defeat.

Dunseith will be up against a hot Rugby squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Rugby came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 48-42 W against Turtle Mountain.

Meanwhile, Dunseith took a blow against Des Lacs-Burlington on Thursday, falling 59-31. While losing is never fun, the Dragons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while the Lakers are ranked 27th).

Dunseith dropped their record down to 4-16 with the loss, which was their eighth straight on the road. As for Rugby, their win bumped their record up to 12-7.

Rugby took their victory against Dunseith in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 58-32. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rugby since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
