Baseball Recap: Alamogordo Triumphs

Alamogordo took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Gadsden, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Tigers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Panthers on Monday, sneaking past 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted since March 15th.

Aric Vazquez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up six Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Alamogordo is undefeated when he allows at most two earned runs, but 6-15 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brandon Williams, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Aiden McGinnis also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for Alamogordo and bumps their season record up to 9-15. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Gadsden, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 14 of their last 15 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-18-1 record this season.

Alamogordo will have a chance to go back-to-back against Gadsden: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
