Softball Game Preview: Pasquotank County Panthers vs. First Flight Nighthawks

Pasquotank County is 0-10 against First Flight since March of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. The Panthers will square off against the Nighthawks at 5:00 p.m. Pasquotank County has given up an average of 10.2 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Pasquotank County is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Thursday. They lost 13-1 to Currituck County.

Meanwhile, First Flight hadn't done well against Holmes recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Nighthawks never let the Aces get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory. Winning may never get old, but the Nighthawks sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

The result came thanks to Riley Gilreath's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game.

On the hitting side, Mamie Kyger was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Savannah Schnader, who went 2-for-3 with one home run.

First Flight's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Pasquotank County, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9.

Pasquotank County suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to First Flight in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
