Basketball Recap: Gulf Coast Snags Third Win in Last Four Games

If Cypress Lake wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Gulf Coast, they should've done a better job of containing Jacobi Sayus. The Gulf Coast Sharks came out on top against the Cypress Lake Panthers by a score of 58-46 on Friday thanks in part to Sayus, who went 7 for 11 on his way to 19 points. What's more, he also posted a 63% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in November of 2024.

Julian Rodriguez was another key player, putting up seven points. He is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last three games he's played.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Joey Dube - Garrett, who posted 17 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Zeke Dube-Garrett, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards.

Gulf Coast is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season. As for Cypress Lake, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season.
