South Anchorage has won five straight games at home, while Eagle River has won five straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Wolverines will welcome the Wolves at 5:15 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (South Anchorage 3.4, Eagle River 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
South Anchorage is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Colony, who was ranked sixth at the time (South Anchorage was ranked second). The Wolverines walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Knights on Wednesday.
David Feigner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 14 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Landon Gasser and Logan Geuss did most of the damage at the plate: Gasser went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Geuss went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Geuss is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Jim Massey was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Eagle River). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Bettye Davis East Anchorage a 15-0 shutout on Friday. The Wolves haven't had any issues with the Thunderbirds recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Inoa Wakinekona made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Wakinekona was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in both of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Dallin Roberts was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jack Mullen, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
South Anchorage's victory bumped their record up to 20-2. As for Eagle River, their win bumped their record up to 10-3-1.
Everything went South Anchorage's way against Eagle River in their previous meeting back in April, as South Anchorage made off with a 7-1 victory. Will the Wolverines repeat their success, or do the Wolves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
