Basketball Game Preview: Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks vs. West Liberty Comets

Mid-Prairie is 9-1 against West Liberty since February of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks will welcome the West Liberty Comets at 7:45 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Tuesday, Mid-Prairie didn't have too much trouble with West Branch as they won 72-56. Given the Golden Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while the Bears are ranked 228th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, West Liberty entered their tilt with Tipton on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 56-47.

West Liberty has also been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.2 points per game. As for Mid-Prairie, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-2.

Mid-Prairie skirted past West Liberty 63-61 when the teams last played on January 3rd. Will Mid-Prairie repeat their success, or does West Liberty have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
