Recap: Milton-Union Bulldogs vs. Riverside Pirates

The Milton-Union Bulldogs had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.3 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 43-27 victory over Riverside. Given Milton-Union's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 211th, while Riverside is ranked 570th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Milton-Union's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Berberich, who scored ten points along with six rebounds. The matchup was Berberich's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Layman, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds.

Milton-Union pushed their record up to 11-2 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Riverside, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.

Milton-Union will be playing at home against Lehman Catholic at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Riverside, they will head out on the road to face off against Bethel at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Bethel comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last six games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
