Softball Recap: Atkins Comes Up Short

Atkins was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Dover Pirates. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-2 back in March.

Atkins' defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Dover, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Atkins will venture away from home to square off against Mt. Vernon-Enola at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Dover, they will head out to take on Bigelow at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Pirates' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
