Basketball Recap: Tavares Bulldogs vs. Atlantic Sharks

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Tavares can now relate to. They took a 64-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Atlantic Sharks on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 347th, while the Sharks are ranked 93rd).

Atlantic got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mekhi Yan out in front who went 9-for-12 to rack up 20 points and seven boards. That's the most points Yan has posted since back in December of 2024. Cris De La Pena was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to ten assists and six steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Tavares and nudges their season record down to 14-11. As for Atlantic, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-7.

Tavares does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Atlantic, they have already played their next contest, a 67-46 victory against North Marion on the 17th.
