Baseball Game Preview: Gilmour Academy Lancers vs. Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin Lions

The Gilmour Academy Lancers will face off against the Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Gilmour Academy 2.3, Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Gilmour Academy is returning to their home field after beating Lutheran West on theirs, despite the fact Lutheran West has dominated at home this season. The Lancers came out on top against the Longhorns by a score of 9-4 on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lancers.

Meanwhile, Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 9-2 victory. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.

Aiden McCord looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cian O'Boyle, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Frankie Clark, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one double.

Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Gilmour Academy, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.
