Basketball Recap: Out-of-Door Academy Takes a Loss

Out-of-Door Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 44-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cambridge Christian Lancers. The Thunder were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lancers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Despite the loss, Out-of-Door Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Gaby Bichanich went 7 for 13 on her way to 15 points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, Out-of-Door Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.

Out-of-Door Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Cambridge Christian, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-3.

Out-of-Door Academy and Gulf Coast HEAT will compete for holiday cheer at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Gulf Coast HEAT's defense has only allowed 22.1 points per game this season, so Out-of-Door Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Cambridge Christian, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 58-16 victory against Universal Academy on the 13th.
