Addison Shehan and Reese Merrell secure win for North Hills Christian

Recap: North Hills Christian Eagles vs. Lee Christian Falcons

The North Hills Christian Eagles had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Lee Christian by a score of 52-44 on Thursday. That's another feather in the cap for North Hills Christian, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.

North Hills Christian was led to victory by Addison Shehan and Reese Merrell. Shehan scored 20 points along with two steals, while Merrell dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Shehan has scored all season.

Lee Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elayna McFarland, who dropped a triple-double on 19 points, 17 rebounds, and 12 blocks. McFarland is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Mashburn, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Lee Christian were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

North Hills Christian's victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Lee Christian, they dropped their record down to 2-12 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Hills Christian won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Victory Christian Center at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Victory Christian Center presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than North Hills Christian in North Carolina (Victory Christian Center is ranked 110th, while North Hills Christian is ranked 464th). As for Lee Christian, they will head out on the road to take on Cresset Christian Academy at 6:15 p.m. on Monday.
