Baseball Recap: Wellington Takes a Loss

Wellington came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 12-4 to the Black River Pirates. The Dukes have struggled against the Pirates recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Wellington's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Black River, their win bumped their record up to 9-6.

Looking ahead, Wellington will take on Elyria Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.78 runs per game on average), something the Dukes will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Black River, they have already played their next matchup, a 20-9 defeat against Firelands on the 13th.
