            Softball Recap: Solon Comets vs. Hudson Explorers        
        
		
        
        
            Solon had to endure  a  six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with  an   8-5  victory over the Hudson Explorers  on Wednesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won  8-7  on April 9th.

 Kassidy Samuelraj made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she  struck out 12 batters over  seven innings while giving up  three earned  (and two unearned) runs off   seven  hits. Those  12  strikeouts gave  her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box,  going 2-for-3 with three  RBI.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Grace Gerhard, who  went 3-for-4 with two  runs, two  doubles,  and two  RBI. Those  two  doubles gave  her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was  Ali Palsa, who  went 3-for-5 with two  runs.
 Solon was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .429. They are  a perfect 4-0 when  they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Solon picked up their first road  win, bumping their record up to 5-12. As for Hudson, they dropped their record down to 2-12 with the  defeat, which was their fifth straight  at home dating back to last season.
 Looking ahead, Solon will venture away from home to  square off against Midview  at 5:00  p.m.  on Thursday. The Comets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Middies have averaged an impressive 6.3  runs per game this season. As for Hudson, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Nordonia  at 5:00  p.m.  on Thursday. The Explorers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 7.5  runs per game this season.
