Baseball Recap: La Junta Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Manitou Springs, La Junta was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Buena Vista Demons by a score of 4-1. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Tigers as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Eli Stokes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up ten Ks. He has become a key player for La Junta: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 2-12 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Calvin Hill was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double. Joshua Casillas also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

La Junta's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 4-13. As for Buena Vista, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-9.

La Junta will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Demons: the pair will be back at it again later today.
