Volleyball Recap: Bernalillo Takes a Loss

Bernalillo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to the Hope Christian Huskies. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Huskies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 on October 7th.

The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-21, 25-7.

Savannah Townsend paced Bernalillo's offense, picking up seven kills. Townsend got some help from Rayann Downing and her ten assists. Downing was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Among those leading the charge was Alyssa Ortega, who had nine digs and three aces. That's the most aces she has posted since back in September. Another player making a difference was Sway Baca, who had 13 assists and five digs.

Bernalillo's loss dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Hope Christian, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-5.

Bernalillo wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-1 victory against Del Norte on the 28th. As for Hope Christian, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-1 defeat against Albuquerque Academy on the 28th.
