Softball Game Preview: Lehigh Lightning vs. Gateway Eagles

The Lehigh Lightning will head out on the road to take on the Gateway Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lehigh has given up an average of 16.1 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Lehigh came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 15-3 to Gateway Charter.

Lehigh saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Yasmin Silva, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another was Haylee Marquis, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Gateway's offense. They came up short against Cape Coral on Monday, falling 10-0. The Eagles have struggled against the Seahawks recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meetings.

Gateway's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Lehigh, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
