Basketball Game Preview: Mt. Pleasant Tigers vs. Longview Lobos

Mt. Pleasant has won three straight games at home, while Longview has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Saturday. The Mt. Pleasant Tigers will be taking part in a tournament against the Longview Lobos at 9:00 a.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Mt. Pleasant is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Jacksonville just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 51-35 bruising from the Fightin' Indians. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 328th, while the Fightin' Indians are ranked 74th).

Meanwhile, Longview was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 46-40 to Tyler Legacy. The Lobos haven't had much luck with the Raiders recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

Mt. Pleasant will have to contain Paris Simpson as she made an impact in Longview's last game. She posted 12 points along with five boards and five steals.

Even though they lost, Longview smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in ten consecutive games.

Mt. Pleasant's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Longview, their loss dropped their record down to 13-3.
