Football Recap: Rylyn Jones Leads Edison's Defense on Monday

Edison won the last time they faced Corona del Mar and things went their way on Monday too. The Chargers came out on top against the Sea Kings by a score of 14-7 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). Given the Chargers' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 40th, while the Sea Kings are ranked 127th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Edison didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off eight passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Rylyn Jones, Lexie Reynoso, and Ayla Khoshkbariie picked up one apiece. Another thorn in Corona del Mar's side was Katelyn Chantha, who picked up three sacks and made four total tackles.

Edison's victory bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Corona del Mar, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.

Edison will be playing at home against Los Alamitos at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Chargers 9.1, the Griffins 8.9) so any points scored will be well earned. As for Corona del Mar, they will head out on the road to square off against JSerra Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lions' defense has only allowed 4.6 points per game this season, so the Sea Kings' offense will have their work cut out for them.
