Preview: Washington Blue Lions vs. Jackson Ironman/Ironladies
The Washington Blue Lions will be playing in front of their home fans against the Jackson Ironman/Ironladies at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Washington will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 485th, while Jackson is ranked 93rd).
Last Saturday, Washington was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 34-33 to Chillicothe. Washington has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Jackson stacked a fourth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Saturday. Everything went their way against Hillsboro as Jackson made off with a 55-31 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Jackson has posted yet this season.
Jackson's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from T.j. Carpenter, who scored 18 points along with nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Mattie Walburn, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds.
Washington now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Jackson, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-2.
Washington suffered a grim 60-40 defeat to Jackson when the teams last played back in December of 2023. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Washington was down 34-14.
