The Segerstrom Jaguars are taking a road trip to take on the Fullerton Indians at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Segerstrom is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Segerstrom is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Kennedy just ended the team's three-game winning streak last Friday. They came up short against the Fighting Irish, falling 14-6.
Segerstrom saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaden Fraser, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fullerton). They blew past Ocean View 14-5 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Indians.
Analise Barrios tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over 6.2 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Hayley Brock was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Flores, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Fullerton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .378. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ocean View only posted a batting average of .185.
Segerstrom's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Fullerton, their record is now 14-6.
Segerstrom's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's game. The Jaguars have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Fullerton, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Segerstrom continue to outrun the ball?
Segerstrom came up short against Fullerton when the teams last played back in March of 2023, falling 9-5. Can the Jaguars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
