Softball Recap: Sanford Takes a Loss

Marshwood hit Sanford with a seven-run fourth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Spartans lost 12-2 to the Hawks. If the Spartans were looking for revenge after losing 8-7 to the Hawks when the teams met back in May of 2021, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Sanford saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Linda Krol, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Sanford's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Marshwood, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Sanford will challenge rival Massabesic at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Marshwood is set to take on their familiar foe South Portland at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Hawks 3.8, the Red Riots 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
