Softball Game Preview: Notre Dame-Green Pond Crusaders vs. Northwestern Lehigh Tigers

Notre Dame-Green Pond hasn't had much luck against Northwestern Lehigh recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Crusaders will host the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Notre Dame-Green Pond 3.5, Northwestern Lehigh 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Notre Dame-Green Pond's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Saturday's struggle, when Nazareth Area hitters got past them. The Crusaders came up short against the Blue Eagles on Saturday, falling 11-1. The Crusaders were red-hot at the plate heading into the match (they scored no less than ten runs in the four contests prior), but the Blue Eagles' pitchers proved too tough.

Notre Dame-Green Pond saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hannah Lilly, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Northwestern Lehigh entered their tilt with Palmerton on Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Blue Bombers 7-1. Surprisingly, this marked the fifth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Northwestern Lehigh's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Notre Dame-Green Pond, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 7-1.

Notre Dame-Green Pond couldn't quite get it done against Northwestern Lehigh in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 8-4. Can the Crusaders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
