Basketball Recap: Brendan Hines' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Winamac over Delphi Community

Winamac lost against Delphi Community on January 4th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Winamac Warriors fell just short of the Delphi Community Oracles by a score of 50-48. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Warriors have suffered against the Oracles since January 22, 2022.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brendan Hines, who went 8 of 15 en route to 20 points and three steals. Hines is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Ethan Burgess was another key player, going 6 for 9 on his way to 14 points and five boards.

Among those leading the charge was Kaydn McAtee, who went 7 of 11 en route to 17 points. He is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Walker Jones, who posted 11 points and six rebounds.

Winamac's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-6. As for Delphi Community, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Winamac will take on West Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Winamac is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.8 points per game this season. As for Delphi Community, they will square off against Carroll at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Delphi Community also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 54.4 points per game.
