Basketball Recap: Newport Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Newport can now relate to. They took a 64-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Phoenix Pirates.

Newport's loss dropped their record down to 14-8. As for Phoenix, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season.

Newport does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Phoenix, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 64-41 defeat against Marshfield on the 13th.
