Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Sherando walked away with it. They put the hurt on the James Wood Colonels with a sharp 56-35 victory on Friday. The Warriors' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Jacob Henry was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 104 yards and four TDs, and also threw for 162 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only ten passes. Those 104 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

James Wood lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Owen Neal, who threw for 352 yards and four touchdowns while completing 79.3% of his passes, and also rushed for 38 yards and one score. His passing game has become a key predictor of James Wood's success: the team is 6-2 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. Aidric Yurish was another key player, picking up 168 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

The win was the third in a row for Sherando, bringing their record up to 8-3. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.7 points over those games. As for James Wood, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-4 record this season.

Sherando will head out to challenge George Washington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least 31 points in their last six contests. James Wood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
