Softball Game Preview: Skyview Falcons vs. Billings West Golden Bears

Skyview is 1-9 against Billings West since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Falcons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Golden Bears at 3:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Skyview took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Russell, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Falcons won by a run and slipped past the Rustlers 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Falcons have posted against the Rustlers since May 4, 2019.

The team relied heavily on Kelsey Hjelm, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Ruby Sheridan, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Billings West). They put the hurt on Gallatin with a sharp 16-6 victory on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Golden Bears in their matchups with the Raptors: they've now won nine in a row.

Tatum Bush made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Ryane Viker was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Tayten Abrams, who scored three runs while going 3-for-5.

Billings West was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gallatin only posted a batting average of .310.

Billings West's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Skyview, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
