Basketball Recap: Mid-Pacific Institute Falls Short Against Ranked Maryknoll

On Monday, Mid-Pacific Institute faced Maryknoll in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Mid-Pacific Institute Owls took an 80-74 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Maryknoll Spartans. The Owls haven't had much luck with the Spartans recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Mid-Pacific Institute lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Riley Miura, who went 5 of 8 to rack up 17 points. Logan Mason was another key player, going 6 for 10 on his way to 18 points and seven rebounds.

Mid-Pacific Institute's loss dropped their record down to 15-17. As for Maryknoll, they pushed their record up to 22-9 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

While Mid-Pacific Institute had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
