Volleyball Recap: Jonesboro Has No Trouble Against Lipan

After losing to Lipan the last time they met, Jonesboro decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Eagles put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 3-0 victory on Tuesday. That looming 3-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Eagles yet this season.

Jonesboro never let Lipan on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-15, 25-21.

Ally Thorman paced Jonesboro's offense, picking up 14 kills. Thorman got some help from Destini Ranaghan and her 18 assists. Ranaghan also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Landree Deats, racking up three apiece.

Jonesboro's win was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2. As for Lipan, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

After both having extra time off, Jonesboro and Millsap will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lipan, they will be taking part in a tournament against Collinsville at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday.
