Baseball Game Preview: Berthoud Spartans vs. Greeley Central Wildcats

The Berthoud Spartans will head out on the road to take on the Greeley Central Wildcats at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Berthoud and nine for Greeley Central.

Roosevelt hit Berthoud with a five-run second inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Spartans lost 16-4 to the Roughriders.

Severance hit Greeley Central with a seven-run first inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wildcats came up short against the Silver Knights, falling 15-1.

Greeley Central saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anthony Partida, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Greeley Central's defeat dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Berthoud, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.

Berthoud was able to grind out a solid win over Greeley Central in their previous meeting back in June of 2021, winning 11-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
