Basketball Game Preview: Milton Panthers vs. Gulf Breeze Dolphins

The Milton Panthers will head out on the road to challenge the Gulf Breeze Dolphins at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Milton has nine straight wins, Gulf Breeze has 15 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

It was a proper cat-fight when Milton challenged Central on Tuesday. Milton had just enough and edged Central out 40-38. 40 seems to be a good number for the Panthers as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.

Meanwhile, Gulf Breeze took a blow against West Florida on Tuesday, falling 52-19. While losing is never fun, the Dolphins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 473rd, while the Jaguars are ranked 112th).

Milton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.2 points per game. As for Gulf Breeze, their loss dropped their record down to 1-16.

Everything went Milton's way against Gulf Breeze when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as Milton made off with a 44-19 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Milton since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
