Baseball Game Preview: Lake Charles College Prep Trailblazers vs. Beaumont United Timberwolves

The Lake Charles College Prep Trailblazers will venture away from home to square off against the Beaumont United Timberwolves at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lake Charles College Prep will be strutting in after a win while Beaumont United will be coming in after a defeat.

Lake Charles College Prep took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over Hamilton Christian. While the Trailblazers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-23), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Chrisian Burgos spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up nine Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Lake Charles College Prep is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-4 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Justin Lartigue, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and two RBI. Lake Charles College Prep is undefeated when Lartigue posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-4 otherwise. Derrick White was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Beaumont United was not able to break out of their rough patch back in February as the team picked up their 22nd straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Lake Charles College Prep, falling 11-1.

Lake Charles College Prep pushed their record up to 6-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Beaumont United, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.

Lake Charles College Prep took their victory against Beaumont United in their previous meeting back in February by a conclusive 11-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lake Charles College Prep since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
